As every year, o9 May, the Europe Day,  took place an opening of the Wiener Festwochen on the Rathausplatz and I had a real pleasure to attend.

Besides the Symphony Orchestra of the ORF Vienna Radio and Arnold Schoenberg Choir, were presented one after the other eight choirs from Germany, France, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, Croatia, Bulgaria and Austria.

Additionally, I could admire amazing voices of opera soloists: Ursula Langmayr and Johanna Krokovay, all under control of the notable conductor: Cornelius Meister.

"Survivors of Warsaw" a wonderful melodrama of Arnold Schoenberg, was presented at the end of the ceremony. The performance was very impressive not only because of music but also because of  a voice of  Cornelius Obonya who was reading a poem in a very dramatic way.

However, I was the most impressed by a finale - a song which was attended by the all choirs, the orchestra and the soloists. Power which got out at the same time from throats and instruments seemed to be strong enough to destroy walls and buildings around.  I am extremely grateful to organizers for tons of great emotions that I could experience.

Several songs which were included in a program of the festival opening you can found below.
